US Ambassador optimistic about Romania’s future

U.S. Ambassador in Bucharest Mark Gitenstein declared he was optimistic about Romania’s future and the relationship of the two nations. At the award-conferring ceremony held at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace where President Traian Basescu bestowed on him the National Order The Star of Romania’ in the rank of Grand Cross He said that “the Romanians are patriots and they want this country and its institutions to be strong, independent and enable every Romanian to accomplish his dreams. We, Americans, share the same values.” Gitenstein said he was deeply impressed with receiving this decoration. “The three years me and my wife Libby spent in Romania were among the most fulfilling in our lives. I was honored that President Obama has chosen me to represent him in Romania, the country of my family’s ancestors. Therefore, strengthening and deepening the bilateral relation between Romania and the United States was a task I fulfilled with love,” said the U.S. official. Gitenstein pointed out that what he enjoyed most in Romania has been making the acquaintance of the people.
