The budget for 2014 was built on successes of 2013 in terms of economic growth – PM Ponta

Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta said on Sunday evening that next year’s budget was built by the Government based on the successes of 2013 in terms of economic growth, but also on what can be estimated for 2014. “The most important provisions of the budget refer to the fact that over 5 million pensioners will have an increase of 3.76%. It may not sound impressive, but let us not forget that there were two years, 2010 – 2011, when their pensions were cut. Not only have we given back what was cut, but we also succeed every year in adding something important. Moreover, we have in the 2014 budget almost 3 billion lei, almost 750 million euros, money that will go to teachers, to various public servants who have won the lawsuits against Romania’s Government over the pay cuts in 2010. This money will go particularly to teachers,” he said. Also, he added that stipulated in the budget is also money for increasing resident doctors’ incomes. PM Victor Ponta added that no charge has been changed.
