Romania won IEB chairmanship

Romania won the chairmanship of the International Exhibitions Bureau (IEB), after elections during the 150th General Assembly organized in Paris on Nov 22-23, 2011. According to MAE press release, the Romanian official becomes the IEB president replacing French Ambassador Jean-Pierre Lafon. Romania’s holding the IEB chairmanship represents an opportunity for promoting our country’s image worldwide, particularly in the context of the activities the IEB agenda schedules for the two years ahead, namely the 2012 International Yeosu Exhibition due in Korea, and the Floriade 2012 World Horticultural Expo Venlo, The Netherlands, and the campaign to promote and select the candidate countries to host the International Exhibition in 2017 and the World Exhibition in 2020. Belgium and Kazakhstan are the candidates for the 2017 exhibition, while five countries, namely Turkey, Thailand, Russia, Brazil and the United Arab Emirates vie to host the world exhibition due in 2012, so far, MAE press release reads on.
