Romania must refund EUR 17.7 M to the EC

The European Commission (EC) yesterday requested the refunding of the total sum of EUR 414 M from member states, representing funds relative to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) of the EU, incorrectly spent by member states. Romania must repay EUR 17.7 M for various problems with verifications and with dictating sanctions, out if which approximately EUR 2.2 M have already been recovered, money.ro reports. In conformity with the EC decision, the funds will be recovered from 22 member states – Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Cyprus, Lithuania, Hungary, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden and Great Britain, with the UK due to pay the biggest correction, respectively EUR 111.7 M.
