Romania has to transpose EU norms in national law

A press release informs that yesterday the European Commission (EC) officially called on Germany and Romania to take the necessary measures to transpose EU norms for data storage into the national legislation within two months. The Directive concerning data storage says that phone companies and Internet providers are obliged to store telecommunications traffic and localization data for legal purposes. The delay in transposing the directive in the national legislation may have a negative impact on the internal electronic communications market and on the law-enforcers’ capacity to track, investigate and defer to justice perpetrators of serious crimes.
