Romania does not want fixed date for accession

Prime Minister Victor Ponta declared that even if Romania is ready to become part of Schengen, he does not want a fixed date for accession anymore. This announcement was made during a meeting with Interior Minister Radu Stroe. According to diplomatic sources, Bulgaria’s position on the issue of Schengen membership remains unchanged. ” You have a mandate from the Romanian government to tell all our European colleagues that we are perfectly prepared for Schengen and that whatever depends on us has been done. Now it’s up to them to do whatever they need to whenever they decide to. We no longer want a date, we do not want to be told next time anymore” Victor Ponta said.
