Ministry of Environment to issue certification to finish Units 3 and 4 of Cernavoda power plant

The Ministry of the Environment and Forestry decided to issue the environment certification to resume building and finishing Units 3 and 4 of Cernavoda nuclear power plant.According to an announcement from the ministry posted on the institution website reads that the decision was made following the assessment of the quality report on the environment impact of the project “Resuming works of building and finishing Units 3 and 4 of Cernavoda nuclear power plant.”  In the summary of the final report of the survey “The proper evaluation of the environmental impact of Units 3 and 4 of Cernavoda nuclear power plant – Impact on biodiversity,” the National Institute of Research and Development “Danube Delta” Tulcea says that operation of Units 3 and 4 of Cernavoda nuclear power plant will not affect the dynamics and evolution of the habitats of European interest included the protected area ROSCI0022 “Canaralele Dunarii”, as the operation of Units 1 and 2 of the same plant does not affect the aforementioned habitats, a conclusion stemming from the investigations conducted in 2010 and 2011. The documentation behind the decision to issue the certification and the information on the potential impact of the proposed project can be viewed on the ministry website or at the office of the company that conducted the project, the National Company Nuclearelectrica.
