In 2011 Romania Absorbs More EU Funds Than Before

Official data show that after the supervision from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Romania has improved its capacity this year to obtain and use European funds. Romania’s Agriculture Minister said that Brussels had allotted some 3 billion euro for agricultural projects in Romania, which represents 30 % of the total EU money made available for this sector. Also, in the first six months of the year, Romania managed to attract some 5 billion euro of European funds, almost 50 % more than in the same period last year. While Romanian farmers are making better use of money from Brussels, not all other sectors of the economy are showing the same rate of improvement.
