IMF Agenda Does Not Have CAS Reduction On It

While the IMF delegation’s meeting with Labor Min Sebastian Lazaroiu, the topics on the agenda included wages, pensions and the Social Assistance Code. Yesterday, after the meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation, Sebastian Lazaroiu stated that they had had general talks addressing the application of the wage law, as of next year, the implementation of the new pension system, as well as the Social Assistance Code. According to the minister, Social Assistance Code is to enter parliamentary debate this autumn, and Romania assured the IMF that it would focus on a better concentration of benefits for the underprivileged. He added that he had told the IMF representatives that the government was trying to put an end to waste in the system, by a three-year strategy, to be initiated next year.
