If Romania does not fulfill assumed preconditions by June the agreement will expire – IMF

Erik de Vrijer, head of the IMF mission, stated on Tuesday during a press conference that Romania’s agreement with the International Monetary Fund will expire and there will be no other agreement if Romanian authorities do not fulfill the assumed preconditions by June. The IMF official stated that at this moment it cannot be said that Romania is within or without the agreement’s parameters. “The government is taking measures in order to attain the targets and needs more time. Because we consider that they are serious, I believe we should give them the time needed to implement them. So we cannot say that we are within the agreement, or that we are without the agreement,” Vrijer stated.
