Heating Subsidy To Be Or Not To Be Eliminated

The Romanian Government decided to hold back the ordinance eliminating state heating subsidies until it completes a state aid scheme for low-income households. Prime Minister Emil Boc said that the bill package will be approved in late August and implemented starting this fall. , The package will be drafted by the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Labor and Ministry of Finance. The heating subsidy is currently provided both from the state budget and from the local budgets. The Government covers up to 45% of thermal energy producers’ fuel costs.
