EIB granted loans to Romania of 5.4 billion euros

According to a press release , the total value of the loans granted in the period 1997 – 2013 by the European Investment Bank (EIB), with the approval of the Romanian state, stands at 5.4 billion euros,writes AGERPRES. According to the release, the Public Finance Minister pointed out that he supported the diversification of the intervention sectors of EIB in Romania to energy, agriculture, infrastructure and the continuation of funding the small and medium-sized enterprises through the EIB partners in the finance-banking sector. Mihai Tanasescu, EIB Vice President, highlighted the financial advantages of the member states concerning loan taking from EIB, both to fund projects and to ensure co-funding and pre-funding for projects financed from European funds. The European official showed that there were problems related with the lack of fiscal space for the projects Romania engaged with EIB.
