Conditions for Romanias accession to Schengen are not met – French Government

The spokesperson for the French government, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, declared on Thursday for RMC radio station that “conditions are not met” for Romania and Bulgaria’s accession to Schengen area. “We think conditions are not met and we are not the only ones who think that,” Najat Vallaud-Belkacem said. According to the Journal de Dimanche site, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain refuse the two countries’ accession to Schengen and a unanimous vote of member states is needed. Europe 1 says that “a president’s collaborator is blunt: Romania will be denied accession to Schengen on January 1. Conditions will not be met.”
