Carbon Capture And Storage Project – 1 Billion Euros

GETICA CCS is the first project developed by Romania for carbon capture and storage. The project will be implemented starting 2013. The costs will stand at one billion euros and it will be 50 % financed via the European financial instrument NER300, said advisor Tudor Serban. Under the project, 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide will be captured, carried and stored a year. The gas will be carried by 40-kilometres long underground pipelines. The storage will be made by means of deep geological saline water formations located no more than 50 kilometers from Turceni Heating Plant (southwestern Romania).
