Auction dedicated to military life by Artmark

On April 11, in Bucharest will take place an auction dedicated to military life. The Artmark organized auction is titled “The Military and Antiquities” and features 140 items dating from the 1st century B.C to the Second World War: military equipment, crests, medals and decorations, swords, historical documents and photos alongside novel objects. One of the main items in the auction is a French rapier, a type of sword, dating from 1630 – 1645 and designed for the personal guards of the French throne inheritor. The sword is decorated with heraldic symbols associated with Louis XIV of France. A novel item in the auction is a military field kitchen from the First World War, starting at EUR 7,000. Another valuable item is a letter inscribed on a viel-skin parchment and issued by Romanian prince Constantin Brancoveanu in 1713. The auction also features a coding machine used by the German army during the Second World War, the crest of a Persian nobleman, a battle mace dating from the times of Romanian prince Mihai Viteazu, a 16th century German sword, a Spanish crossbow and a Sachs military motorcycle. Between April 3rd and 10th, the items in the auction will be on display at the Artmark HQ, at the Cesianu – Racovita Palace, between 11.00 – 21.00.
