5 (arts) in five (days) in Bucharest

This December, the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) invites us in the heart of Bucharest, at the “Carol I” Central University Library (BCU), to present a sample of its activities during the past year. The festival will start on Monday, December 5, at 6pm, with the opening of the exhibition “The Romanian Avant-garde: Drawings and Graphic Art”, presented by Catalina Macovei. After the historical avant-garde, Saturday, December 10, will be allotted to contemporary visual art, in a Live Drawing session (4pm to 6pm) presented by Alexandru Ciubotariu, Matei Branea and Noper. On Tuesday, December 6, from 6pm, film-lovers are invited to a screening of the documentary “The Flower Bridge”, directed by Thomas Ciulei, and on Saturday, December 10, from 7pm, to “In a Better World”, directed by Susanne Bier (Denmark), a film include in this year’s European Film Festival selection. Performing arts will be represented by the pantomime show “Contraste”, starring Richard Bovnoczki and Dana Cavaleru, on Wednesday, December 7, from 5.30pm, and by “Ich bin Ofelia” – a one-woman-show starring Coca Bloos on Friday, December 9, from 6pm. The events will take place at the Galateca Hall (2-4, C.A. Rosetti) and in BCU’s Grand Hall (88, Calea Victoriei). The public’s access is free.
