The Berlin Film Festival began and will run until February 20. The 61st edition will be proud to have enrolled 16 films from all over the world vying for the Golden Bear. Top prize will be granted by the jury led by actress Isabella Rossellini on February 19. The festival will be open by Joel and Ethan Coen’s western “True Grit.”
Romania will be represented by two productions: “15 iulie / 15 July” by Cristi Iftime and “Apele tac / Slient River” by Anca Miruna Lazarescu. “15 July” tells the story of a young couple who decides to spend a weekend at Brasov. On their way there, the girl convinces her boyfriend to make a stop at her grandmother’s, where she has the surprise to find her father in a less ordinary stance. “Silent River,” set in 1986 Romania, tells the story of Gregor and Vali, two men who want to flee the country by swimming across the Danube to Serbia. To make sure they will be successful, Gregor demands Vali to leave his wife behind.
