Transport Minister Anca Boagiu announced in an interview that as of 2013 a tax on motorways might be enforced, with the first motorways subject to the new tax due to be Bucharest-Constanta, Bucharest – Pitesti and the Southern Ring of Bucharest, as well as the Sibiu – Nadlac section of Corridor IV. Referring to the taxes on Bucharest – Pitesti and Bucharest – Constanta motorways, Anca Boagiu said that the Transport ministry decided to merge the maintenance of these segments and that of the Bucharest Southern Ring road into a sole package of concession, which will make it easier to find investors that will finance the construction of a new motorway.
