The Price For The Transylvania Highway Went Down To Half

According to Mediafax, the construction price of the Brasov-Bors highway has fallen from EUR 20 M per kilometer to less than half, after the negotiations that took place between the Romanian authorities and Becthel. Now, Becthel will resume work this autumn, after it will receive a part of the sums that the state owes it. Sources from inside the Transport Ministry state that “hard negotiations” took place. Bechtel gave up on some of its pretensions in return for the payment of a part of the state’s debt. The price per kilometer remains high however, the highway being one of the most expensive in the world, the aforementioned source points out.  Also, the American Embassy played an important role in the negotiation.
