Romania could liberalize the car market in a few months – Bogdan Chiritoiu

Bogdan Chiritoiu, the head of the Competition Council said Wednesday during a symposium that the car market in Romania could be completely liberalized, in a few months, following the Parliament’s approval of a law draft, according to which the visible parts, located on the exterior of the car can also be produced and sold without the car producer’s approval. “At the moment, any car parts producer can produce spare parts. In some European states this is also valid for the parts on the exterior of the car, which are visible (car body parts, door, mirror, lights), but in other countries the visible parts are protected. Only the car producer has the right to sell them, which means that the car parts price is higher. This law is applied in Romania”, showed Bogdan Chiriţoiu. He explained that the strategy is based on the recovery, in time, of the investment cost, for research and development.
