Natural gas imported through Arad-Szeged, cheaper than Russian gas – GDF Suez Energy

The natural gas imported by GDF Suez Energy Romania, subsidiary of French group GDF SUEZ, through the Arad-Szeged (Hungary) pipeline is cheaper than Russian gas, said yesterday during a seminar, the CEO of the company, Eric Stab. According to Stab, approximately 15 % of the gas imported by the company comes from Hungary and the difference is bought from companies agreed by Russian group Gazprom. The company official says that demand for natural gas will increase as new gas-based power plants will be constructed. All this time, the gas market must be liberalized, Stab said.
